It's that easy:
When standing by the raw log stack, simply switch on your LogStackPRO device and select "measure" in the start menu. Then hold the LogStackPRO device up with the cameras facing the wood stack and press the screen to begin the measurement. Then move from left to right while continuing to hold the LogStackPRO device towards the wood stack.
As you walk, the stereo cameras will continuously photograph the surface area of the wood. The stereo camera technology which is certified by PTB and Eichamt eliminates manual determination of scale ratios with stages or measuring tapes. This means that there is no possibility for error or manipulation with the measurement results, which are based on LogStackPRO's objective measurements.
When you have measured the front side of the stack the system will process the data whilst you continue the measurement. This includes measurement of the back side and the close-up measurement to establish the exact density of the stack. All the data is automatically processed and you can now inspect the measurements. You can easily correct sizes of single logs and add individual logs that the photo survey may have missed due to shadows.
Now you have your finished polygon, which is the front and back surfaces of the raw wood stack. The stack’s GPS coordinates are obtained automatically, and you now have the option to fill in additional information about the raw wood stack, such as log length, wood species, quality, etc.
Once you have filled in this information and approved the log-detection, LogStackPRO automatically generates a measurement report with information about surface area, log count, volume etc. The photo and documentation are shown further down in the report.
Results
If your device has internet connection in the forest the report can be uploaded to the cloud and is accessible to stakeholders immediately after the report is finished. If your device does not have internet connection where you have measured the log stack the report is saved on the device and can be uploaded later.
